Easy and Quick DIY Kids Toys

For my friend's nursery we are trying to be very budget conscious, especially now that we are reaching the end of the project.

So, to make the most with what we have, I whipped up a few toys that we can use as decor, and later on for some fun.

Crib Palooza

One of the first things you think about buying when you are going to have a baby is a crib.

A few weeks ago we sold our crib that went through our first two children.  It was a little bittersweet and I truly loved the crib, it just didn't fit into my vision for the new nursery.  So, away it went and the hunt was on for a new crib, and I eventually settled on "The One".

If you didn't catch the crib in the nursery mock up you can check it out here

15 Last Minute Valentine's Day Ideas

So it's the day before the big day and you have absolutely nothing planned.  Kudos.

As the queen of procrastination all I can say is "been there, done that".

So I've put together 15 quick and easy (some stupidly easy) ideas to do for Valentine's Day.  Also, my husband is restlessly waiting for this post to be written, so I made sure I would be 100% okay with him doing any of the things on the list.

Number 1: Flowers and a hand written love letter.

Yep...very easy, very basic, but very thoughtful.

Easy Playdough Valentine and Free Printable

I knew for my daughter's preschool class I didn't want to give candy for Valentine's Day.  I figured they would all be getting enough of that.  I did want to give them something though that they could play with, so I thought...plahdough!

My daughter LOVES to play with playdough and asks me to make it all the time, so it came naturally to think of putting it into her valentines.

Of course we had to start with making some DIY playdough.

We used this wonderful Jello-O recipe by MPMK.

It's A...GIRL! Maybe?

You may have noticed, once again, that I took a hiatus from the blog.  I'm so sorry if it has been rather annoying for anyone who is a follower.

This is the second time in under a year that I have taken a major break from blogging.  However, I do feel like I sort of have a good excuse.

Prince and Princess Birthday Extravaganza

Last month was my daughters birthday and she requested a princess party, and being her 5th birthday, I wanted to make it a big one.

I knew I didn't want everything to be overwhelmingly pink (a few boys were coming) so I added in some yellow and purple.  So basically, it still turned out pretty feminine, but at least it wasn't all pink.

Command Center Addition

Our command center has so far been one of the most useful places in our home, however, we were having a problem.

This year our daughter started preschool and began bringing home papers to put on the magnetic board.  Now, the board only fits so much and soon it was completely covered by art projects, letter pages, and the like.  There was no longer any space to write notes or lists.  A bit of an inconvenience.

So, we came up with a perfect solution for the problem.

We added a picture wire!

Furniture Family Addition

Since we moved into our current home, over 3 years ago, our front living room has had only a single couch to sit on, and no chairs to speak of.  As you can imagine, this has been quite the inconvenience.

Any time someone came over for a quick visit or a casual chat, we were stuck sitting right next to each other instead of a comfortable face to face, but not in your face position.

Want a New Floor in a Day? Okay!

I cannot stress the ease of putting down peel and stick flooring.  Literally a job that can be done in a day.

This is our story *dun *dun (that would be a Law and Order reference folks).

It began with a layout and a chalk line (the good kind, not the person shaped kind).

If you are unsure about how to layout your tile, here is a great video tutorial

To Spray or Not to Spray...A Bathtub that Is

The bathroom remodel it still in paint mode, so today I'm going to discuss my experience with refinishing our bathtub.

When we decided that we wanted to remodel our bathroom, but on a very tight budget, it meant we could not replace our tub, which would have meant replacing all of our tile as well.  So I found a product to refinish the tub instead.
